TGIPS! Thank Goddess it's Pisces season! From February 18th to March 20th we rise to higher planes and go rolling in the deep as we move away from the fix-it mindset of Aquarius to the feel-it space of Pisces. If Aquarius teaches us that we are all in this together, Pisces teaches us that we are all one.
We dive into the warm waters of our psyche,
...where the lines between reality and fiction blur.
...where compassion is a super power.
...where your imagination is a muscle (exercise it).
...where the astrological year meets its end. Look within so you can begin again.
These next four weeks bring a healing glow of intuition, empathy, and creative surrender. Make art for art's sake...or healing's sake. Get lost in a fantasy book. Look beyond the surface. Where dreams grow, intuition flows. May we escape to deeper realms and emerge from old spaces with new eyes.
Pisces Suns aren't the only ones who will be affected by the imaginative energy of this season. Everyone can get lost in these dreamy waters no matter their sign, but especially those born with their Sun or major planetary placements in any of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces). Check your birth chart to see which planets fall in these signs, then look to the houses they inhabit to understand which areas of your life are especially affected.

Pisces 101
Every year, the Sun, which governs self-image, identity, and purpose, spends approximately 30 days in each of the twelve zodiac signs, shifting how we experience the world around us. From February 18th/19th to March 19th/20th, the Sun’s life-giving energy is filtered through the rose-colored glasses of Pisces, transforming the collective mood for everyone on Earth.
The Symbol
The Pisces symbol, two fish swimming in opposite directions, represents the duality between reality and dreams, life and death, the physical and spiritual realms, and the constant search for balance between them. Add the element of water and we see a fluidity and adaptability reminding us that our inner world shapes our outer reality.
The Element
Water signs process life through feeling, and each of the three water signs of the zodiac utilizes its emotion-ruled element differently. Cancer's water is nurturing; it's the water in the womb. It protects. It provides to survive. Scorpio's water is transformative; it's the truth at the bottom of a well. It runs deep. It seeks truth. Pisces's water is empathetic and spiritual; it flows into all water sources. It knows no boundaries. It feels everything. This is what gives Pisces its compassionate, empathetic nature—it absorbs the emotions of the room like a sponge. During this season, expect to feel a little more sentimental and in tune with your intuition. Let your heart and emotions guide the way forward.
The Modality
Pisces belongs to the mutable signs, known as the zodiac's flexible adapters. This mutability is what makes its watery expression so fluid and adaptable; it teaches us how to remain flexible and respond creatively to unexpected challenges. Mutable signs fall at the end of each season, guiding us through transition and change. Through Pisces season, we explore the depths of our subconscious, awakening our sense of higher purpose, and releasing what no longer serves us to make room for what feels more aligned. By the time the season ends at the Spring Equinox, we are ready to plant the seeds.
The Planets
Pisces is one of the zodiac signs that claims two planetary rulers. Its modern ruler is Neptune, the planet that governs dreams, spirituality, and imagination. These ethereal fish love exploring the boundless reaches of their own minds as well as the depths of other's feelings. However, Pisces is also a master of illusions and where there is Neptunian energy, there can be tendency toward escapism. During this season, make sure you're not overindulging in ways that are unhealthy or numb your spiritual gifts. Instead, escape to the bathtub with a poetry book or fantasy novel.
Before Neptune was discovered, Pisces was ruled by Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system and the cosmic daddy of abundance, fortune, and expansion. In the realm of Pisces, this manifests as prioritizing spiritual and emotional knowledge, encouraging wisdom on a grand scale.
The Sister Sign
Every sign has an opposite sign, or sister sign, located 180 degrees apart on the zodiac wheel. Sister signs share the same modality and a complementary element, reflecting exactly what the other needs for balance: Virgo can get so caught up in the little details that they lose on the bigger picture, while Pisces offers an expansive viewpoint. Virgo wants the art to be perfect. Pisces just wants to make art for art's sake. Virgo says chase your talents. Pisces says chase your dreams. But for Pisces, a dream can't become reality without someone willing to roll up their sleeves and get to work—a grounded practicality Virgo excels at.
During Pisces season, this influence reminds us that while it's a gift to experience the world through such vivid imaginations, we must eventually swim back to shore. Dream big about what you want to create, but be honest about your limits.

Pisces Lesson
Being the last and final sign of the zodiac wheel, Pisces has synthesized the lessons of all the signs before it, overcoming obstacles and resolving karmic debts. Each sign encounters an obstacle, and in Pisces, we overcome them all to complete the journey. While Aquarius taught us the importance of the individual within the collective, Pisces teaches us that we are all one; we exist in unity with everything in existence, aware that separation is, ultimately, an illusion.
As the astrological year comes to an end, we are invited to create space for new beginnings by releasing what no longer supports our spiritual growth. Before spring arrives in fast, fiery, action-oriented Aries, I offer you the invitation to slow down and focus on what is happening within. Pisces helps us effortlessly adapt to our surroundings, so take intentional time for yourself to process whatever emotions get churned up. Allow yourself to flow freely and explore it all. Affirm and honor your intuition whenever you can. Tap into the collective consciousness to which Pisces has unique access. Let this season teach you compassion and gentleness, and show you how to extend it outward. During Pisces season, we are all sirens of the sea. Listen for the song of your soul and let yourself be led by its melody.

Pisces Season Rituals
Renew Your Faith in Something
Pisces season is an ideal time to fill your spiritual cup. Faith is not a world reserved solely for the religious or the spiritual. Faith is a feeling of trust in the absence of proof. It is a guiding force that offers strength and hope. So often, we put the pressures of the world on our shoulders, acting as if we must do it all, fix it all, and carry our burdens entirely by ourselves. How relieving it can be to place our fears in something greater than ourselves in the name of faith. While the concept of faith often implies allegiance to a divine or supernatural power, it doesn't have to be so rigid.
Back in 2015, I spent time in an inpatient treatment facility for addiction that was heavily rooted in the 12-steps. At the heart of the twelve steps is the importance of a Higher Power: a force greater than ourselves, found in anything from a traditional deity, nature, or the group itself. I remember one exercise where we went around the room to share what our higher power was. One woman said she wasn't religious and didn't believe in any God, but that her higher power was her passed on grandmother. At the time, I thought her answer was a bit peculiar, but over ten years later, that answer still holds space in my mind. reminding me that faith holds no boundaries. It's not exclusive. It does not judge. After all, I can think of no one better to put my faith in than the memory of someone who once offered such unconditional love and support.
Whether you renew your faith in a power greater than you or awaken an entirely new spiritual practice, Pisces season helps us explore that which is beyond the 5 senses.
Connect With the Element of Water
Water is the conductor for Pisces energy. As with any water-ruled season, staying hydrated, indulging in a bath, and going swimming are all ways to connect with the element. But do you want to know a truly impactful way to connect with the element of water? Advocate for it. The health of our oceans and water supplies becomes an ever-more crucial focus. While no one can singlehandedly save the planet, you can contribute to the collective efforts to protect our aquatic resources. If you're someone who buys bottles of water to drink at home, consider asking yourself why. Investing in a water filter pitcher or dispenser will set you back an average of $40, a small price to pay for protecting the earth. If you're someone who cannot go a day without asking ChatGPT a question, consider critical thinking. AI models consume anywhere between five drops to a full 16-ounce bottle of water per interaction, depending on the complexity because water is used for both cooling data centers and electricity generation for the servers. Even smaller actions, like disabling AI mode on search engines, can reduce your AI water footprint.
Honor an Evening Ritual
One way to enter the realm of Pisces is through sleep, specifically, high-quality, restorative sleep. Getting good rest lies in the preparation. Your sleep environment should feel like a sanctuary, devoid of blue light and overstimulation. Galaxy projectors can make your space feel like an underwater grotto. Candles offer low light that triggers the natural production of melatonin. Binaural beats can help synchronize brainwaves as you wind down. Scents or teas, like lavender or mugwort, can calm the mind and are traditionally associated with intuition and relaxation. Amethyst under the pillow will help you tap in to your psychic abilities.
Because Pisces is so absorbent, be careful about what you watch or read before bed. This season can turn you into a psychic sponge, so be mindful of what you're consuming. When we sleep, our brain uses REM cycles to wash away the emotional debris of the day. Before closing your eyes, practice clearing out any lingering worries or mental chatter. Visualize heavy emotions flowing out of your mind as you consciously dissolve the day.
Keep a Dream Journal
Pisces season, with its Neptunian influence on the subconscious, can enrich our sleep and bring divinely inspired messages through out dreams, making them feel more cinematic, symbolic, and emotional. Keep a dream journal by your bed. When you wake up, immediately record everything you remember. Write it down before you pick up your phone or poof the messages just might disappear.
