You are not powerless over what is happening here in Minnesota. Here's a list of everything you can do right now to fight against ICE on a national level and support operations here in Minnesota:
You've got until January 30th to call Congress
Congress has to pass a new budget to fund the Department of Homeland Security (which ICE is a part of) by January 30th. The DHS appropriations bills would hand more funding to ICE and border patrol and do little to rein in their abuses. It doesn't matter if you're in a red state or blue state, it's still important to call your elected officials to voice your thoughts on ICE. Every call is logged and every call carries weight.
Step 1: Find your congress members HERE
Step 2: Call them
Script: "Hi, my name is [Your Name], and I’m a constituent from [Your City, State].
I’m calling to urge Senator [Name] to refuse to vote for any appropriations bill funding the Department of Homeland Security that fails to rein in ICE.
The killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti and are part of a broader pattern of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against our communities.
We can’t wait around while ICE harms more people. Senator [NAME] must push for an appropriations bill that puts serious restrictions on ICE, ends its dragnet raids, and doesn’t add a penny to its already bloated budget."
Vote in the Midterm Elections this November
Voting in the 2026 midterms this November is the most direct way to stop the aggressive federal operations currently sweeping through Minnesota. (Unsure of what the midterm elections are? start here). A new majority has the authority to defund specific deportation surges, launch mandatory oversight investigations into incidences like the shooting of Renee Good, and pass legislative guardrails like the Melt ICE Act H.R.7190. Know where the person you vote for stands on this and vote accordingly.
