Welcome to Sagittarius season! We cross the threshold from Scorpio season, where time was spent plumbing the deep waters of our psyche. Now, we push off from the ocean floor, break through the water's surface, and launch into the sky like an arrow, soaring high with a brilliant glint against the Sagittarius sun.
There is a palpable sense of lightness--a feeling of having unburdened ourselves from what needed to be outgrown. All that was shed during Scorpio season is now shooting through the sky, trusting that the cosmos will received it, and that what goes up must eventually come down, transformed and ready for a brand new adventure.
Navigating Sagittarius Season
Sagittarius season runs from November 21st through December 21st. No matter what your birth chart looks like, these next 30 days influence everyone by fostering optimism, a desire for adventure, and a drive to expand our horizons.
Keep an eye out for any disempowered Sag qualities this season can bring, such as impulsiveness, overindulgence, and recklessness. Jupiter's influence, while promoting abundance, can also encourage excess, so be mindful of overindulging or taking on too much at once. While breaking free from routine can be a nice change of scenery, it can be hazardous if the desire for freedom isn't balanced with practicality.

The Foundation of the Archer
To fully understand Sagittarius and the energy this season brings, we start with the basics: element, modality, and ruling planet.
Any zodiac season ruled by fire offers a divine spark, giving off a warm radiance that is as nourishing as the rays of the sun. Fire energy naturally brings bursts of enthusiasm; we seek things that light us up, flaring up when inspired, and quickly feeling frustrated by the mundane when the fire goes out. If you find yourself feeling restless, try to identify the fundamental need that isn't being met. In an environment that lacks novelty and stimulation, flip the script and try to move in a way that is mindful, structured, and engaging.
Sagittarius is the mutable fire sign of the zodiac. Mutable signs are the "editors"--the final chapter of their element in the zodiac wheel, wrapping up the story of the other two signs they share an element with. They are the breakdown before the next season begins, which often adds a touch of chaos and restlessness to their natures. If Aries is the pioneer who initiates the journey and Leo is the voyager adding depth to the story, then Sagittarius is the experienced adventurer, completing the quest with and emerging with an all knowing perspective of life's big picture.
Sagittarius is ruled by the big daddy of the solar system, the planet that is more than twice as massive as all the other planets combined: Jupiter. Jupiter is expansive; it magnifies everything it touches, creating a "go big or go home" mentality. Jupiter's job is to push us out of our comfort zones and into uncharted territory. Knowing this, we can understand why Sagittarius is considered the adventurer of the zodiac, exploring new realms with a never-ending thirst for wanderlust and a gift for seeing the big picture.
Self-discipline is important during Sag season. As the holidays approach, we tend to overindulge in food, drink, and spending. Know your limits and keep yourself in check by not overdoing something that will make you feel uncomfortable later.
2025 Sag Season Astrology Note* Jupiter recently went retrograde on November 11th, and will remain so until March 10th, 2026. When this planet enters low power mode it tames the over-indulgent impulses mentioned above.

Rituals
Seek new experiences
Jupiter governs higher learning and teaching, as well as wisdom and higher truths. To align with this energy, take that workshop, sign up for the class, or book the trip. Can't travel? Change your surroundings for a new view: be a tourist in your own town by visiting museums, attractions, or monuments. Make a point to step outside your comfort zone and do something different.
Study something that inspires you
Sagittarius is the sign of higher learning, so use this month to indulge in a new fixation. I know not every Sagittarius aligns with the adventurer stereotype of constantly wanting to travel and seek new experiences; some of you are very content in the comfort of your own home! Maybe that's because you enjoy exploring the vastness of the world through other avenues like reading, podcasts, documentaries, and YouTube videos. Yes, seeking new experiences, travel, and learning about the world go hand in hand, but we often forget that we can explore the depths of this planet and go on a journey without leaving home.
Take a risk
Sagittarius holds the title of the zodiac's resident gambler. Since they are ruled by the planet of luck, throwing the dice at a risky move feels like second nature. This season is your permission slip to take calculated risks (key word being calculated here!) that could potentially lead you to your next jackpot. It's time to live for the thrill, because, as my boy Sirius Black put it, "What's life without a little risk?"
Ask life's bigger questions
The search for truth requires a willingness to ask the uncomfortable questions. Beyond self-reflection, another vital way we can grow this month is by exploring different perspectives. Seek out, read about, or listen to someone whose philosophies challenge your own. Step into other people's shoes (making sure they are also willing to step into yours) and respectfully engage in conversations with people who hold opposing views. Dialogue can bring unity when we approach it with an open mind and open heart. And we are almost always guaranteed to learn something new.

My Grandpa, the Sagittarius
When I think of someone who lives up to their zodiac sign, I immediately think of my Grandpa. He was fearless, an adventurous spirit, and had a larger-than-life personality--a true Sagittarius through and through. He recently passed away in July, and that man had a line wrapped around the church and out the door with people coming to pay their respects. He was generous to all, a leader in the community, and never passed up an opportunity to share his wisdom (or bullsh*t as some would call it). Sagittarius understands that true knowledge comes through experience and that life's purpose involves continuous growth and exploration, and I would say he truly embodied that. He lived a very full life, one full of travels, full of stories told, and full of risks he was always willing to take--wise or otherwise. I was recently told a story that, at one point during his 9 years as mayor, he had some of the street signs removed so he could land his four-seater airplane on one of the main streets of town. True story? I cannot confirm or deny. Par for the course? Absolutely. I dedicate this blog post to him.
