Welcome to Aries season and happy astrological new year! Nothing screams fresh starts and new beginnings like bulldozing the old and sending it up in flames. The baby of the zodiac reminds us to courageously begin again and honor the fire within. This is the spark that lights the fuse under every goal, intention, and dream we have for the new year. During Aries season, pressure is a privilege, and we're going pedal to the metal on what fuels our inner fire. Speed limit? Optional. Patience? We don't know her.
Aries season carries all the heat we need to set our spring intentions into motion. If you're still feeling the slump of midwinter hibernation, this season will have you feeling far too restless to stay cooped up a moment longer.
During Aries Season we trade stillness for movement as intention becomes action.
Aries season is where your Pisces season dreams meet action. Trendy quotes like "my dreams become my reality" sound pretty and inspiring on the surface, but those Pinterest-able quotes tends to leave out one part of the equation: action. Without it, manifesting is nothing more than a buzzword that lacks substance. Aries season says, "I'm no longer waiting, praying, or manifesting. I'm going to go get it."
While some signs will feel this heat more intensely than others—looking at you, Aries, Libra, Cancer, and Capricorn—we all benefit from the empowered traits of Aries for the next 31 days, but we can just as easily fall victim to its disempowered shadows if we aren't careful.
To pinpoint exactly where this fire is starting, look to the house where Aries falls in your birth chart. This is the specific area of your life currently being activated under the Aries Sun.
Ask yourself: what area of your life do you want to be the trailblazer? Are you fighting who you truly are? Where does impatience costs you more than it helps?

Aries 101
Every year, the Sun, which governs self-image, identity, and purpose, spends approximately 30 days in each of the twelve zodiac signs, shifting how we experience the world around us. Aries season always kicks off on the Spring Equinox and the Astrological New Year (running from March 20th to April 19th this year), as the Sun’s life-giving energy is filtered through the authentic, no-filter lens of Aries, transforming the collective mood for everyone on Earth.
The Symbol
Represented by the ram, Aries traits include being headstrong, driven, passionate, and motivated to do well in leadership roles regardless of whether that's at work, in their friendship circles, or in their family dynamics. Not every Aries identifies with the leader stereotype, but that quality isn't just about leading others; it's about the autonomy to lead the self, answer to no one, and protect your independence at all costs.
The Element
Aries is a fire sign (along with Leo and Sagittarius), and in astrology, that manifests as the passionate, energetic, and action-oriented powerhouses of the zodiac. While each fire sign has its own way of existing and expressing that fire, Aries is the spark that starts the blaze. This elemental energy is what fuels the go-getter spirit of the season, providing the charge we need to move full-speed toward our goals.
Fire doesn't ask for permission to grow, and neither does Aries. This season, that internal spark is demanding to be met with passion, reminding us that life-changing aspirations require fuel for the fire. Without the emotional charge, the fire starts to flicker—because, at least for an Aries, if there's no passion behind the project, the spirit starts to dim.
The Modality
Aries belongs to the cardinal modality (along with Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn). They are the initiators of the zodiac which makes them intrinsically brave and sometimes even naive. Cardinal signs begin seasons, initiating us too take the lead. While the element of fire gives Aries its heat to move, the Cardinal modality gives it its direction.
Use this cardinal energy to begin the projects you've been contemplating over winter. That spark of Aries energy will help you tackle the harder parts first while adrenaline is high. But don't let optimism cloud your judgement. Trust should be earned, not given freely.
The Planet
Governed by Mars, the planet of energy, action, and assertion, Aries is characterized by its boldness, impulsiveness, and pioneering spirit. In mythology, Mars, is the Roman god of war, imparting a natural fighting spirit over the sign, making them comfortable with challenges and competition.
The Sister Sign
Every sign has an opposite sign, or sister sign, located 180 degrees apart on the zodiac wheel. Sister signs share the same modality and a complementary element, reflecting exactly what the other needs for balance. For Aries and Libra, the tension lies in the delicate paradox between independence and connection.
While Libra is the diplomat who values the "we," Aries is the pioneer who lives for the "I." The struggle is that both signs often use their natural strengths as a crutch: Libra can lose themselves in others to avoid conflict, while Aries can isolate themselves to avoid compromise. The lesson here is the realization that you can’t truly show up for others (Libra) until you’ve learned how to courageously stand for yourself (Aries). You can’t truly lead a life of purpose (Aries) until you’ve learned how to harmonize with the world around you (Libra). Unchecked independence can quickly turn into isolation. The Aries evolution is realizing that your fire burns brighter when it’s used to light the way for others, rather than just keeping yourself warm.
Aries Lesson
As the baby of the zodiac, Aries embodies a child-like wonder for new experiences and a joyful, eyes wide open approach to life. But don't get it twisted—that same wonder can be accompanied by a toddler-like rage when faced with unexpected obstacles or a lack of instant validation.
Every sign carries a shadow, so be mindful of how you're moving through this season. When things get rocky, ask yourself: Are you acting on impulse or insight? Are your priorities aligned with your truth, or are you missing opportunities in a rush for instant gratification? Are you taking responsibility where it's warranted, or are you passing the blame to avoid accountability? Can you listen without reacting?
As an Aries who has been told this more than once: you don't always need to learn things the hard way.
Harness this Aries season energy by catapulting yourself into the lead and build a momentum that the rest of the year won't be able to stop. Living under the Aries Sun will draw you towards what feels authentic, purposeful, and deeply fulfilling. The brave heart of Aries is here to awaken your inner warrior and remind you of the qualities that make you uniquely you. Don't be afraid to ask for more, dream boldly, and hit the gas on your most ambitious aspirations. Lean into the fire and let it unlock a feistiness you didn't know you had. And remember: a little flame goes a long way.

Aries Season Rituals
Take a Warrior Sculpt or other High Energy Workout Class
This may be my Aries stellium being biased, but I love the idea of a warrior sculpt class during Aries season. The room is usually heated, Aries literally embodies the warrior, and it's a healthy way to burn away worries in exchange for high-energy endorphins.
But truly, any high-intensity movement or a solid gym session will do the trick. When I say "high-energy," think fast-paced cardio, always moving, and a playlist that’s loud and upbeat. Aries needs to physicalize stress through heat—sweating it out to keep that internal fire from turning into a wildfire of rage. If you're feeling your temper rise or your brain buzzing too fast, alchemize that energy through movement. If high-impact activity isn't an option for you, but still need release, drink a big glass of ice water (or better yet, take an ice bath), then ground yourself by putting your bare feet on the grass to pull that excess heat out of your head and back down to earth.
Give your Head some TLC
Since Aries rules the head, face, and brain, this is the perfect time to shift your focus upward. A scalp massage is a game-changer for physically releasing mental pressure. Warm up a small amount of rosemary oil (make sure it's diluted in a carrier oil and not pure essential oil) and use your fingertips or a scalp massager to move the skin in small circles.
For a sensory reset, dampen a soft cloth with cold water and a drop of lavender oil or rose water. Lay the cloth over your eyes and give yourself a few minutes to simply slow down. Other ways to show your face some TLC include using a gua sha tool to move stagnant energy or submerging your face in ice-cold water helps reset the nervous system and a fast track to a clear head.
Host a Game Night
Hosting a game night with the fam, friends, or roommates is the perfect excuse to shake off hibernation blues and reconnect with people. Aries energy thrives in the heat of a challenge, so look at this as a ritual for activating your confidence.
Engaging in a little friendly fire allows you to practice taking risks and trusting your gut in a low-stakes environment. Whether it's a board game, video game, card game, competition helps you reclaim some of that cardinal power and inspire confidence. There's courage in the act of showing up and competing—and that can be just as rewarding as the victory.
Light Something On Fire
In a safe, non-pyromaniac way. But seriously, connect with the element of fire. Aries finds its most potent magic in the flame, that can be through candle magic or getting outside for spring's first bonfire. The goal is the same: to witness energy change state.
Spend a few moments fire-gazing, letting your eyes soften as you stare into the dancing light. This practice quiets the mind and opens the door to sudden flashes of intuition (keep a journal nearby as insights during Aries season often strike like lightning bolts). If you're feeling weighted down by winter's lingering shadows, write down what you want to release or let go and safely commit it to the flames.
