Oh what a strange world we live in! Although our normal day to day has been turned on its head, the world still spins and the stars still align. How, oh how, do we make the best of what feels like the worst?
Taurus, the bull, is the second sign in the zodiac, creating permanence and focusing on the material. Highlighting the sector of the physical, such as money, personal belongings, touch, and beauty, Taurus takes the independence of Aries and manifests it into reality. As an Earth sign, Taurus season is all about grounding and using the senses. Being ruled by glamour planet Venus, we’re doing so with elegance. It is time for us to slip into our desires with determination, as the bull, while decadent, is also a force to be reckoned with.
Ruling the 2nd house of possessions and finances, Taurus asks us to take the self discovery we’ve made under Aries season and put our money where our mouth is. This season asks us to root into our identity, our accomplishments, and our masculine agenda as defined by the previous season, and know it, celebrate it, with Venusian femininity. With their Tarot card being The Hierophant, we are called into two categories: leaders of faith or students of it. One cannot be without the other, so there is no wrong answer to where you are in your journey. A leader cannot lead without listening first.
Being the bull who emerges mid-spring, Taurus’ fixed quality is quite fitting. Anchoring the season, Taurus energy can be quite stubborn. However, if you know what you’re worth, why the hell wouldn’t you be? Taurus values are strong, and you will soon discover yours if you haven’t already.
Venus
The goddess Venus is an ancient deity and the Roman version of the Greek Aphrodite. As she is the goddess of love, beauty, and fertility, she is also the goddess of victory. This babe is a winner, and she looks good doing it. Said to be born of seafoam and the mother of Rome, Venus is in touch with her femininity and has a nurturing quality that makes her an excellent beginner deity to work with.
The planet Venus is referred to as the love and money planet, because that is the name of the game for this orbiting globe! While the sun changes astrological placements (as referred to previously in terms of seasons) so do all of the other planets. Currently, this glamorous planet is circulating the constellation of Gemini, which is bringing lots of chatter and networking into relationships of all kinds. While this can be difficult in a mid-COVID world, all we have to do is adapt. Thank goodness we’re living in the digital age, because chatting has never been easier!
Both the planet and the goddess have a magnetizing attractiveness and bridge romance and play between all types of relationships and people. This type of energy serves as an important glue, and can be amplified by working with your own attraction!

Glamour
A glamour is defined in magick as an illusion. You may remember a scene from The Craft, where Robin Tunney changes her hair color while sitting in her coven circle. But this transformation can be just as magickal (though not as instant) with a box of hair dye! Although, I caution you to think twice if you’ve never colored your hair under quarantine psychosis.
Glamour can run the gamut of makeup, a fierce outfit, or be as extreme as plastic surgery. When treated as a ritual, the mundane becomes magickal, and the shift felt in altering ones appearance can be a powerful and passionate force. By doing so with intention, you’ve unlocked the ability to hoard your beauty for a specific purpose!
For example, swiping on a coat of red lipstick before a presentation at work can bring passion to your delivery, all while commanding attention. Wearing black leather pants can create intimidation. Soft, pouty lips can create an inviting environment for a new rendezvous. The list goes on.
But what the hell are we supposed to do with all that when we’re in lockdown? If there are no presentations to give, no club to dance in, no cosmetic office open to give us injectables, HOW IN THE DAMN ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BE GLAM?
Quarantine
Let’s get this out of the way: quarantine is not fun. It’s hard on our mental health, it keeps us from being social (as we are social creatures) and screws with our schedule.
That being said, we have so much to be grateful for. Sitting at home is a small price to pay for helping end this terrible disease, while front line workers (including ALL essential business employees) are in constant contact and putting themselves at risk. So, while it sucks to stay home, it is a privilege that those of us have should be beyond thankful for.
While we are all struggling to survive this time in our own unique way, this is your space to grieve what you’ve lost and missed out on, while circling it back with gratitude. You can certainly do both, and you shouldn’t feel guilt for being bummed about missing that concert, graduation, trip, etc. We can all grieve what needs to be grieved.
When the grieving is felt, however, one of the best ways to pull ourselves out of a funk is to change our physical state. And that means playing with glamour. Anointing our body with gorgeous attire can make us feel superhuman, and we all need that in quarantine. Perform this ritual as often as you need to in order to bring divine Venusian glamour into your living room.
Divine Femininity
For this ritual, we are going to amplify the level of decadence in the home by using ourselves as a prop. We are the masters of our reality, and playing dress up can be enough to change it.
What you’ll need:
- Cleansing tool of choice (bells, smoke, etc.)
- Sexy lingerie, your cutest loungewear, or even favorite outfit
- Perfume or cologne
- Cute slippers (or heels for bonus glamour)
How to perform:
- First, clear the area in which you’re performing your ritual. This will help give you balanced energy in which to work.
- Call in Venus' energy by (either aloud or in your head) asking for her presence as you perform this ritual.
- Slip into your outfit of choice
- Take your fragrance and anoint your pulse points
- Repeat “I am worthy of romance in all forms, in all relationships. I am powerful and comfortable. I am safe and a force.”
- Continue to wear this outfit around your house for as long as you need. Do chores, lounge around, or continue work. Feel the difference in your presence as you’ve changed your state.
- Thank Venus and continue to work with her by asking her for guidance (if you feel called to.)
This ritual will help to empower you. Repeat as necessary. You ARE a force.
