Full Moon in Scorpio: May 1st, 2026

New Moon in Aries: April 17th, 2026 Reading Full Moon in Scorpio: May 1st, 2026 7 minutes

The Sun in Taurus shines warmly on our senses, highlighting what provides genuine stability in our lives, encouraging us to ground our energy into practical, purposeful endeavors that focus on what’s real. On May 1st, the Full Moon fights for her spotlight in the sky, shining her bright light and exposing the holes in what Taurus holds most dear: our comfort zones, our material possessions, our security, and our values.

Where Taurus finds safety in the tangible, the things we can see, hear, and touch, the Scorpio Moon draws our attention toward what lies beneath it all: the shadows, the mysteries, the hidden complexities.

Every Full Moon strives to illuminate and release something within us, but Scorpio is the master of the purge. This particular Full Moon seeks emotional honesty, dropping us into a hall of mirrors and forcing us to remove our masks so we can finally confront the parts of ourselves we’ve been unwilling to look at.

Themes of the Full Moon in Scorpio:

  • Shines a spotlight on what we keep hidden or buried to protect our comfort
  • Releasing what stands in the way of our dreams
  • What’s on the surface vs. what’s behind the shadow

Taurus is sensuality without shame and beauty without vanity. It represents that specific part of spring where we discover the patience (and the pleasure) that comes with growing and tending our garden. But in order to create beautiful blooms, we have to make sure our soil is nourishing and that there’s nothing under the surface holding dead weight. While Taurus wants to build and grow, Scorpio wants to release whatever is standing in the way of that construction, making this Full Moon a powerful time to end a toxic habit, walk away from a stagnant situation, or finally process that resentment you’ve been holding onto.

Resentment is a slow and silent killer. When it isn’t expressed, it feeds on our nerves, growing into something that clouds our judgement and makes us act irrationally or defensively. How many hard conversations do we avoid because we’re hoping the problem will magically fix itself? Scorpio is a sign that doesn't do small talk. It wants to have hard conversations because it craves the honesty evolution requires.

This moon is giving us a massive opportunity to empower ourselves by facing the uncomfortable and recognizing what keeps repeating and why. Those feelings you’ve been pushing down? The Scorpio Moon will have them bubbling up to the surface.

What else is happening in the sky?

As if the theme of deep, transformative change wasn’t intimidating enough, both the Sun and Moon are squaring Pluto, driving home the message that we must confront something in order to grow. Pluto represents power, intense transformation, secrets, and the shedding of old forms. It doesn’t care about comfort zones, it only cares about the truth. You are being asked to prune away old power dynamics or outdated beliefs so that your new seeds actually have the strength to take root and thrive.

Thankfully, with plenty of other planets still in Aries, we’re being offered a surge of courage to face the emotional honesty this Full Moon demands of us. The courage to have the hard conversations. The courage to sit with the feelings you’ve been suppressing. The courage to release anything that's keeping you stuck in your comfort zone. This Full Moon also has the support of Jupiter in Cancer, the giver of gifts and luck.

At the start of this cycle, the New Moon in Aries spiraled us into action over our deepest desires and boldest dreams. But the greatest visions require the hardest work and the biggest sacrifices. This Full Moon is offering you the ultimate transformative energy to confront what needs to be released in order for that vision board to become your reality.

In the light of the Moon, Scorpio starts digging.

You can’t build a beautiful home on top of a secret or a crack in the foundation. Scorpio wants the secret brought to light, no matter how raw or uncomfortable. It pushes past Taurus’s comfortable boundaries so you can tend to what actually needs tending, helping break cycles and stand in your power.

Deeper truths emerge from discomfort, and luckily, Scorpio knows how to feel the depths without drowning in them. Be curious about what lies beneath, and use this Full Moon to commit to the deep reflection that will help you uncover it. In true Scorpio fashion, the answer you’re looking for is rarely the obvious one.

This is where shadow work comes in—which, at its core, is really just a commitment to deep reflection.

When it comes to working with moon phases, I’ve found that the most influential work happens in that space of reflection. I know this isn’t the most motivating take, but it’s the truth. Most of my own New or Full Moon rituals aren’t flashy, are just me meditating and writing in my journal with some candles lit. Without that pause, how can we possibly know which intentions are worth setting? And without a clear intention, our physical rituals don’t have a direction to follow.

To understand how this Full Moon’s lesson relates to your own life, start with that inner reflection. Take a moment to look at the things you project onto others that you don’t accept in yourself. Ask yourself: How is this holding me back from my own growth, or contributing to the resentments I’m holding over others?  What shadow themes come up for you under this Full Moon–is it jealousy, control issues, or deep-seated fears? Let this moon help you confront the question: am I moving in a way that honors my whole truth, or am I just moving in a way that feels comfortable?

Flower Moon Dew Drops Ritual

This year’s Full Flower Moon coincides with Beltane, a moment of transition as the festival’s symbolic bonfires usher the year into a new phase. Beltane celebrates the peak of Spring and the threshold of Summer, weaving together the solar fire of this Venus-ruled season with the transformative waters of the Scorpio Moon. When they converge, magic intensifies.

It was believed that the morning dew of May 1st held special powers. Maidens would gather the dew from plants and anoint their faces with it, believing it they would be blessed with lasting beauty and vitality. They would also run a spoon across the grass to bottle the dew.

To create your own Flower Moon Elixir:

  • On the morning of May 1st, gather a few dew-soaked leaves and transfer them into a container of purified spring water.
  • Pour the mixture into a glass misting bottle. On the evening of the Full Moon, set it outside or on a windowsill to soak up the lunar light.

You now have a moon-charged facial spray infused with the creative fires of Beltane.

Incorporate this elixir into your daily skincare routine and your Taurus season self-care rituals to keep that ever-blooming energy alive.
