In this extension to our intro to Aries season, I'm here to share with you some additional magick - spells and divination to start your new yearly cycle off on the right foot! Using the energy and correspondences of Aries season, we can create powerful magick to set our intentions and manifest what we truly desire.
When is Aries season?
In the northern hemisphere, with the Spring Equinox is when Aries season typically starts. This is usually in late March (from the 20th), and marks the beginning of a new astrological year. This is when the Sun moves into the first sign of the zodiac! It’s important to note that each year can vary slightly due to differences in the calendar and other factors, so be sure to check your local dates.
When is Aries season over?
Aries season usually ends around the mid-point of April, with Taurus season beginning April 20th. Again, this can be slightly different each year based on the calendar and where you are in the world, and there may be other influences so check to get your local dates. I would always say by April 19th Aries season is more or less wrapped up, and the Sun moves into the next sign!

If you were looking for self-care tips during the start of this astrological year, such as aromatherapy, crystals and tarot cards, then I’ve got you covered. As an Aries myself (Sun, Rising, Venus & Ceres), it may be helpful to focus on the element of fire and its associated qualities. Fire is all about passion, adventure, creativity, courage and willpower - so try to tap into these feelings when incorporating self-care activities into your daily life as we move forward. Aries are go-getters and therefore the opportunity for burnout is high - this is why we need to ensure that self-care is a part of our foundation, as well as everyone else's.
- Add cinnamon to your hot chocolate when the evenings are still cool.
- Hold onto the Emperor tarot card when you're meditating for fueling prompts and visualizations. Enjoy cards such as Two of Wands, Three of Wands and Four of Wands to be your guides for journaling or vision boards.
- Work with crystals such as Red Jasper, Citrine and Carnelian to boost your motivation and courage.
- Anoint your forehead, palms and temples with a blend of Orange Blossom, Rosemary or Frankincense essential oils for invigoration. Ensure to use carrier oil as a base for safety please!
- Take time out of your day for movement. Stretch. We spend so much of our day sat in front of screens, that a fresh air run outside even when the weather is garbage can be more invigorating that a triple espresso.
Spell Jar for Motivation; Embodying Aries Energy
Spell jar's are amazing, and a great way to connect with all elements - not just fire!
Here is what you'll need:
- A small jar with a lid
- Sunflower petals or seeds
- Rosemary needles,
- Clove buds
- Citrine or clear quartz crystal chips
- A piece of paper and a pen
- Red candle wax for sealing
Start by opening your space with a short affirmative prayer.
"May my mind be sharp and clear,
May my body be strong and energized,
May my spirit be lifted and inspired,
As I move forward with purpose and drive.
With each breath I take, I feel renewed,
With each step I take, I am empowered,
I am a capable badass, I am focused,
And I am filled with the energy I need.
As I will it, so it is."
Begin by setting your intention for the spell jar. Visualize yourself feeling motivated and energized as you go about your day, thinking about your affirmative prayer.
Write down your intention on the piece of paper, such as "I am motivated and focused in all that I do".
Place the seeds herbs and petals, and the crystal chips, into the jar focusing on the qualities of motivation and energy that they represent.
Fold the piece of paper and place it into the jar as well.
Close the jar with the lid and hold it in your hands. Visualize yourself feeling motivated and energized as you hold the jar.
Recite the following incantation three times: "Motivation and energy, fill this jar. With each breath I take, I feel empowered from afar. And so it is." Seal with the melted red candle wax and let cool.
Place the jar in a spot where you'll see it often, such as on your desk or nightstand. When you need a boost of motivation, hold the jar and visualize the energy and motivation flowing into you. Charge in the sunlight, on the equinox, or when Mars is direct in a new sign. Remember to always practice safety and caution when working with ingredients and spells.

Witch tips for Aries season
There are a few different types of spells that you can perform during this time to take advantage of the energy. Why not set intentions for the new zodiacal year ahead? Try writing a list of what you’d like to manifest this season. One area I’d recommend magickally invoking is Aries's characteristics such as strength and courage.
Sex magick, with the passion and movement correspondences to Aries, can be a fantastic area to explore for yourself (either alone or with company). It’s a powerful way to channel your desires, create something beautiful and bring pleasure into your life. This type of magick is perfect for directing energy towards manifestation, but it can also be more about connecting with yourself and finding the inner strength to move forward.
Divination is also perfect for this period of the year, as the veil is set to be thin. If you’re looking for clarity or guidance on a personal matter, try scrying with fire. Oracles decks for empowerment and motivation, and utilizing belomancy (arrow divination) or sun water scrying can all be amazing alternative ways to connect with this energy.
And finally, you can't get into all this energy without protecting your own; reset the wards in your home, especially if you're doing a big spring clean for the equinox. Put some energy into them and make sure they don't get too weak.
We know that Aries season is a time of immense opportunity to bring your dreams and wishes into reality, so use this energy wisely if you wish! Enjoy it as much as you can, and we will soon move into finding stability with Taurus.
Until next time, and warmest wishes always, Lizzie xox
