Under the Virgo Sun, we step through a personal threshold inviting renewal, self-recognition, and a return to what feels most honest. The end goal? A discerning mind that learns to love itself through the journey of becoming.

We can only roar so loudly before our voices get hoarse. We can only dance in the Sun for so long before our bodies get tired. We can only party so hard before the high wears off. Every year, the Sun, which governs our self-image, identity, and purpose, spends approximately 30 days in each of the twelve zodiac signs, shifting how we experience the world around us. Virgo season usually falls between August 22 and September 23, though the exact dates shift each year depending on the precision of the equinoxes. During this 4-week period, the Sun’s life-giving energy is filtered through the nurturing lens of Virgo, transforming the collective mood for everyone on Earth. 

In 2026, the Sun moved into Virgo on August 22nd at 10:19 PM ET where it will stay until moving into Libra on September 22nd at 8:05 PM ET.

The Symbol

In the depths of Virgo season we find the spirit of the maiden. An archetype that embodies both innocence and maturity, optimism and discernment, and always driven by a genuine desire to change the world for the better. Being tied to the archetype of the virgin, she is arguably one of the zodiac's most misunderstood symbols. We think of a virgin as passionless and prudery, but Virgo is far from that. She is an image of purity: attached to nothing, free and unbound by earthly drama. Empowered by her own inner wisdom, she carries the gift of self-assurance without ego; she knows exactly who she is, why she’s here, and what she needs to do.

The Element

Virgo’s earth shares the core properties of all the other earth signs of the zodiac: dependable, practical, grounded, and deeply connected to that natural world and all of its beauty. If Taurus is the soil of the earth, and Capricorn is the sprout that breaks through its surface, Virgo is the ecosystem creating fertile ground for everything to grow. During Virgo season, we find beauty in the details; the smile lines from a life spent laughing, a birthmark that makes us unique. For a sign often reduced to perfectionism, Virgo energy is about fixing problems, not color-coding closets. For a cleansing to happen, there first has to be a humble observation that dirt exists. In loving our imperfections we temper self-criticism with self-acceptance. We must show up as we are, instead of waiting for who we could be. Only then can we avoid the trap of feeling we need to make up for an inner deficiency through self-sacrifice. These are all lessons Virgo has to offer.
